The system is highly scalable, with additional components and sensors available to support a wider range of applications and to ensure optimal performance across diverse project requirements.

Trimble GEDO IMS

HIGH PRODUCTIVITY TRACK SURVEY & ASSET DATA COLLECTION

KEY BENEFITS

The Trimble GEDO IMS system, consisting of a track survey trolley Trimble GEDO CE 2.0 and a high precise IMU (inertial measurement unit), is the basis for running an efficient track survey and asset data collection.

Additional components and sensors can be added to the system to enable the usage of further applications and to guarantee the best performance.

  • Simple and self-contained trolley captures track position, gauge and cant in a single operation.
  • Measure long portions of track without disruption to normal traffic.
  • Flexible combination with additional sensors fitting to the application for best performance.
  • Demanding geodetic station setup with related restrictions no longer needed.
  • Short initialisation time allows rapid on-site use.
  • Easy to use and clear display of the results.
  • Continuous high-resolution data collection for flexible analysis.
  • Internal quality control within the measurement process on site.

GEDO IMS SYSTEM FEATURES

Trimble GEDO Profiler

The Trimble GEDO Profiler is a laser distance measurement unit equipped with an angle encoder, designed for fast and highly accurate measurement of objects along the railway track. It enables verification of track position at known reference points and measurement of distances to platforms and other fixed structures.

Measurements can be taken relative to the current track position or within an absolute coordinate system. The system also supports clearance verification and the capture of topographic points along the track.

When used as part of the Trimble GEDO IMS system, the Trimble GEDO Profiler references the track trajectory using absolute coordinates or relative reference points, supporting precise and reliable surveying workflows.

Trimble GEDO Scan

The integration of Trimble GEDO Scan with Trimble GEDO IMS creates a highly productive survey and mapping solution for capturing assets located close to the track.

The system generates a dense, absolutely referenced 3D point cloud, from which asset information can be extracted and clearance analyses can be performed. The data is also suitable for as-built surveying before, during, and after construction, making it ideal for BIM workflows.

Trimble GEDO GNSS

By combining the Trimble GEDO IMS system with Trimble GNSS technology, track surveys can be carried out without the need for reference points, using a defined GNSS reference system.

The collected data can be used to develop new or modified track designs, while reference points can also be established and measured during the survey run. This flexibility allows the system to continue supporting additional survey work throughout the reconstruction phase.
