Overview

The vibrating wire (VW) one-and-five channel data loggers easily connect vibrating wire instruments such as piezometers, load cells, strain gauges and pressure calls to the internet.
The vibrating wire data loggers are autonomous battery-powered devices with C-size batteries that can last up to 10 years with minimal to zero maintenance required. The units may also be used as standalone loggers for manual monitoring and can be easily configured and connected with a USB cable and an Android phone.

Description

Vibrating wire sensors are widely used in geotechnical, hydrological, and structural monitoring because of their robustness and long-term stability. The VW data loggers provide accurate measurements of the vibrating wire sensors and their thermistors.
The data loggers have an internal barometer that collects and transmits barometric pressure data with each reading. This compensates for changes in atmospheric pressure that vibrating wire sensors, particularly piezometers, are usually subjected to in various applications. This feature also eliminates the need for an external barometric sensor in order to acquire accurate measurements.

Construction sites and mines are constantly changing and sensors may sometimes get disconnected due to a cut cable or other physical damages. VW data loggers are capable of detecting if a sensor is properly connected and if not, the readying is discarded to avoid false measurements.

LS-G6-VW-MON
The 5-channel data logger may be used for scenarios in which one borehole contains multiple sensors. This can be the case in mining or civil works. for example, where up to 5 piezometers or multi-point borehole extensometers may be installed in a single borehole. It is also ideal for groups of sensors like strain gauges and load cells with 3 to 5 sensors.

LS-G6-VW-1M-MON
The aluminium alloy box version is offered with an external antenna which improves the range for long-distance applications such as strain gauges or pore water pressure monitoring.

Overview

Tiltmeters for monitoring applications provide measurements of changes from the vertical level, either on the ground or in structures. This makes them key sensors to monitor inclinations, movements and differential settlements of slopes or infrastructures.

Description

The wireless tiltmeter combines an extremely accurate dual axis sensor with the Loadsensing long-range radio wireless monitoring system which ensures connectivity up to 15 kms with line-of-sight.
The data collected is stored on board the tiltmeter and shared wirelessly to the closest Trimble gateway. A single gateway can support hundreds of tiltmeters.

The tiltmeters, can be programmed via an Android based app, in a few simple steps.

The tiltmeter is extremely low power and can operate for several years unattended replying solely on the replacement internal batteries.

The unit is now available with an external antenna for full range capabilities or with an internal antenna for applications as railway tracks where its important to minimise the potential risk for external parts.

Overview

2-IN-1 Wireless Laser Distance Meter and Tiltmeter.

The LaserTilt90 wireless sensor is a 2-in-1 laser distance meter and tiltmeter. The laser measures the relative distance between pairs of reference points. One of the two points can be a natural surface or target foils while the node can be placed at the other end point. Meanwhile, the tiltmeter provides measurements of changes from the vertical level, either on the ground or in structures and is used to monitor inclinations, movements and differential settlements of slopes or infrastructures.

Network Management

The LaserTilt90 is capable of transmitting data via long-range radio to a gateway connected to the Internet. One gateway can support hundreds of Loadsensing edge devices in the same network that are also measuring other sensors installed in the monitoring sections (borehole extensometers, pressure cells, load cells, strain gauges etc). It can easily be configured and connected with a USB cable and an Android phone. The device network can also be easily managed through the Connectivity Management Tool.

Work without disruptions

Measurement of tunnel convergence is one of the most important controls of the NATM (New Austrian Tunnelling Method) construction. Portable devices like tape extensometers, levels and temporarily installed total stations allow sporadic measurements. On the other hand, one of the most commonly used methods, the measuring tape, disrupts construction activities due to the use of aerial work platforms.

The LaserTilt90 may be easily relocated along the convergence cross sections up to the excavation front of until the measured relative displacements are stabilised when the required frequency of measurements is reduced. It can also be used when permanent monitoring is required. The wireless sensor can also measure deformations in underground excavations and mining without causing work disruptions and delays.

Full description

It is capable of transmitting data via long-range radio to a gateway connected to the Internet up to 15 kilometres away. In-place inclinometers enable precise, remote, continuous and automatic monitoring of ground movement. The digital loggers are autonomous battery-powered devices with C-size batteries thus avoiding the need of solar power systems in most cases. Beyond IPIs, other digital sensors used in geotechnical, structural and environmental monitoring can also be connected by the digital logger.

The digital logger can be easily configured and connected with a USB cable to an Android phone with the configuration software Android app. The app includes features adapted to each supported sensor such as auto-setup, set up of a voltage threshold to check the power supply received by the sensor, set up of addresses, checking of readings in the field and others. The data collected are stored in the digital logger and shared wirelessly to the closest Trimble gateway. A single gateway can support dozens of nodes. The units may also be used as standalone loggers for manual monitoring. The digital logger is rapidly evolving and integrating new sensors so it is recommended to constantly check for device updates.
