Trimble GEDO Scan

The Trimble GEDO Scan System is a highly efficient solution for capturing detailed information on railway tracks and surrounding assets.

When combined with Trimble GEDO Scan field software, it enables the rapid collection of precise, high-resolution data to support track clearance assessments, asset inspection, and facilities management.

SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE & ASSET MANAGEMENT

KEY BENEFITS

Operating in either LOCAL or ABSOLUTE Mode, collected 3D point clouds are used to produce detailed 3D models of tunnels, overpasses, stations, platforms, crossings and other facilities.

Using clearance envelopes and 3D models, the system simulates the movement of the railcar through an existing facility or a stretch of track. Potential railcar clearance encroachments against existing and design profiles are automatically detected and reported.

  • Simple, self-contained trolley used for Trimble GEDO Scan and other track measuring applications.

  • Helical scanning mode captures ceilings and walls to produce accurate 3D models of tunnels and overpasses.

  • Trimble GEDO Scan Field software runs on the Trimble Tablet rugged PC, controlling scanning operations and data collection of both the scanner and the GEDO trolley.

  • Modular system lets you use the Trimble TX5 , TX6, TX8 or Faro Focus 3D scanner for other survey and facility needs.

  • Workflow and User Interface are consistent with other Trimble GEDO systems to reduce training and increase system productivity.

  • Supports 45° Mode for better object visibility at as-built scans.

  • Neighbour track detection out of the scanning data to survey the scanned but not surveyed track.

  • Chainage view for easy navigation inside the point cloud.

CLEARANCE ANALYSIS AND ASSET DATA COLLECTION

The software controls the entire measurement process, managing communication with the laser scanner and acquiring sensor data from the track measurement trolley.

When used in combination with a Trimble GEDO Rec system and a total station or GNSS receiver, the solution generates an absolutely referenced 3D point cloud. This data can be utilised for as-built documentation, as well as clearance verification in tunnels and other confined or restrictive environments.

When a total station or GNSS receiver is not used for absolute positioning, relative point clouds can still be captured, making the system well suited for clearance analysis applications.
