Trimble Catalyst

Subscription-based GNSS Service for Android

Precision on-demand for any workflow

Trimble® Catalyst™ is a revolutionary GNSS concept delivering positioning-as-a-service to Android™ and iOS devices. With the addition of the simple, lightweight Trimble DA2 GNSS receiver and an on-demand accuracy-based subscription, turn your smartphone or tablet into a precision mapping, navigation, and measurement tool you can use with any location enabled app or service.

Accuracy on demand, on your smartphone

Because Catalyst’s revolutionary technology delivers high accuracy positioning with an on-demand subscription service, you only pay for what you need, when you need it. Pay monthly for unlimited access at your desired accuracy, or choose the convenience and flexibility of hourly pay-per-use Catalyst Precision on-demand.

Catalyst subscriptions are available at a range of accuracy levels to suit your particular job requirements.

  • Catalyst 1 = Centimeter-level (1 cm)
  • Catalyst 10 = Decimeter (10 cm)
  • Catalyst 30 = Sub-foot (30 cm)
  • Catalyst 60 = Sub-meter (60 cm)

Whether you’re carrying out mapping or mobile GIS data collection projects, Catalyst has the positioning accuracy for every workflow.

There’s an app for that

Apps are the key to the innovation of Catalyst. Any location-enabled workflow can take high-precision GNSS and add value or drive efficiency through the benefits of affordable, accessible precision. Use the free Trimble Mobile Manager app to handle your Catalyst subscription and manage a connection to the Catalyst softGNSS engine, then choose the workflow app you need to get your job done.

Trimble DA2 GNSS Receiver: Simply Precise

The engine at the heart of the Catalyst positioning service is the Trimble DA2 receiver. Don’t be fooled by its small size and even smaller price tag. Built using Trimble ProPoint™ GNSS technology, DA2 delivers survey-quality RTK positioning to location-enabled Android or iOS apps. Its lightweight, compact size makes it easy to carry and stow anywhere, so the DA2 is ready to go whenever you need it.

Frequently asked questions

What is Trimble Catalyst?

Trimble Catalyst is a subscription service that allows you to generate and use centimetre-accurate GPS positions on your smartphone or tablet. As a Catalyst subscriber, you can choose to be automatically charged monthly on an unlimited use plan, or alternatively pre-pay for on-demand access on an hour-by-hour basis.

Do I need GPS Correction services to use Catalyst?

Trimble Catalyst uses GPS corrections to generate highly accurate GPS positions. Your subscription includes access to the Trimble Corrections Hub, which lets you use Trimble and Trimble partner correction services. Trimble Corrections Hub coverage is available in many parts of the world but is not yet available worldwide. Check the latest coverage here. If the Trimble Corrections Hub does not provide suitable coverage in your location, you will need to provide your own local correction service.

Can I share my subscription with others?

Trimble Catalyst monthly licenses are transferable between users and devices, but may only be used on one device at a time. Catalyst on-demand licenses are non-transferrable, but on-demand pools can be shared by any number of users.

How do I manage my account?

You can see your subscription and manage your payment details in My account section. You can manage your licences and assigned users for your subscription at the Trimble License Manager application.

*For all positioning subscription levels with Trimble Catalyst, performance depends heavily on many contributing factors. Accuracy and reliability may be subject to anomalies such as multipath, satellite geometry, atmospheric conditions, and proximity to obstructions such as trees, mountains, buildings, and other structures. Position accuracy specifications for Trimble Catalyst subscriptions levels are validated in normal conditions with clear lines of sight to the sky, and position accuracy may degrade quickly and significantly under any of the aforementioned anomalous conditions.
